Sheriff's Department Programs

The San Francisco Sheriff's Department is like no other sheriff's department in California, or possibly the nation. In his tenure as Sheriff of San Francisco beginning in 1980, Michael Hennessey has created and implemented programs focused on improving the life skills of prisoners so that when they return to their communities they are less likely to commit new crimes.

Resolve To Stop the Violence Project, (RSVP) was honored at Harvard University; Sheriff's Department programs and staff have been featured in numerous news articles.

Charter School Education Credit is given for completion of Phase One and Two of the following programs:

- ROADS TO RECOVERY (Substance Abuse),
- SISTER (Substance Abuse for Women),
- Resolve to Stop the Violence (RSVP)
